I first used an Apple Mac computer in May, 2005 when my partner gave me a Mac Mini as a birthday present. This was the original Mac Mini that featured a G4 microprocessor. It was a very early build, as the unit arrived with Panther installed and an included Tiger upgrade DVD.
I was amazed at how easy it was to just jump right in and start using a whole new operating system. And I was thrilled when I found that OS X does not constantly nag, annoy and interrupt the user when they are trying to actually use the computer instead of just installing the latest security updates, or rebooting because the mouse pointer moved.
I knew very soon after that first time with OS X that I wanted to migrate away from Wormware XP, but I had no idea at the time how easy that process would be.
