Speck snap-on case users: This does not work with your existing case, because the clearance between the connector's wire and the case is minimal, so the Speck case gets in the way. I am sure Speck is working on a new one, but if you have one made before the introduction of the current MBP (4/13/2010), avoid this.
If you look at the strain-relief plastic around the AC wire (before it reaches the MagSafe connector), you will notice that instead of injection molding plastic, it is a loose-fitting tube that offers minimal protection.
I have not cut the cable open, so I wouldn't know whether the wire inside has now gone 100% aluminum (not as flexible as copper, and definitely CHEAPER). Doing things on the cheap, but make it look expensive, is what Apple does best. The plastic material is nothing to write home about. It feels like it had a overdose of a Pfizer product out of the factory. This may actually contribute to metal fatigue.
Until I cut the wire open and find out what's inside, I can't say conclusively why the power cords (AC and DC) feel like wet noodles that have minds of their own.

I have the late 2009 white Macbook edition. This power supply came with my model, but I wanted one to put in my bag for travel, so my lazy butt didn't have to unplug and plug from under my desk, the power supply every day I went to work. I purchase the same supply here from Amazon, it works great, as expected. I love the little attachment you can slide on, so you don't have this huge long cord attached to the power supply. It make lugging it around really easy, as the power supply itself is nicely shaped and light compared to other laptop's power supplies I have had.
