Fantastic! August 13, 2010 Shrenik P. Shah (Needham, MA United States) I am an experienced musician, but not so experienced at engineering. I purchased Logic Studio 9 months ago and it sat on my computer unused because I didn't have the time nor the knowledge base to simply teach myself to navigate such a complex program.
I then bought this book and within a half-hour I'd already learned more than I was ever hoping to. This book breaks everything down into plain English, with color diagrams of exactly what you should be seeing on the screen. On top of that, the lessons are very purpose-oriented and useful. If you get through this book, you'll have a great set of skills to record and engineer music. It also serves as a great reference when you're stuck or if you forget how to do something.
If you have zero knowledge of Logic, or if you're an experienced engineer, you will get great usage out of this book.
Outstanding manual, provides clarity August 8, 2010 John Vanderlip Jr. (Hurricane Central) The layout of this manual is simple, organized and..."logical"
It makes learning Logic do-able. Cuts through all the technical jargon and simplifies the learning process.
Learning by doing August 3, 2010 Musick (Norway) I just finished reading this book, and I will hopefully receive my brand new iMAC tomorrow. Then I will install Logic Studio and jump right into the action. Can't wait to install the lessons and media files that are included (on DVD-ROM) with the book, and start learning by doing.
I've never used Logic (or MAC) before, I'm almost a technical analphabeth, and english is not my native language. Still I got through this book understanding about everything (I guess my passion for music gets me going). I even ordered the follow up book in the series (Logic Pro Advanced Music Production).
This book is a breeze to read, packed with both good information and good language. Highly recomended for beginners.
Tomorrow, please come... :)
Clean and Concise! June 10, 2010 Tan Kah Yong (Singapore) I am totally new to Logic Pro and this book clearly shows me how to use the software from scratch with beautiful, fully colour screen captures illustrating the points taught clearly.
Excellent Resource for Logic Pro 9 May 28, 2010 Marshall J. Ponzi (Chicago, IL USA) If you are new to Logic or want to get the most out of upgrading to logic Pro 9, this book is a very useful resource. It takes you through a logical progression of using Logic. It starts with a basic "start using Logic now" section and ultimately moves to more sophisticated recording, editing and mixing techniques. The DVD provides good project examples you work with while working thru the lessons. By the end of this book, you will have a solid grasp of how Logic works and what you can do with it. The book has also served me as a good reference going forward. In case you've read earlier versions, I've also read the Logic Pro 7 version of this book. In my opinion they are both good, but the 9 version is much clearer and answered of my questions the version 7 edition did not.
I also recommend "Apple Pro Training Series: Logic Pro 9 Advanced Music Production" by David Dvorin and Robert Brock as a good follow-on book.
